
Joint Research on TVF with Kobe University Presented at MIXING18
The results of our joint research on TVF with Kobe University were presented at the 18th European Conference on Mixing (MIXING18), an international conference held in Ireland from August 31 to September 2, 2026.
MIXING18 is one of Europe’s leading international conferences on mixing technology, bringing together researchers, engineers, and industry professionals to discuss the latest developments in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, biotechnology, and energy sectors.
As part of its collaborative research with Tipton, Kobe University presented the following study:
“Slug-Induced Stabilization of Taylor Couette Flow in a Continuous Taylor–couette Reactor”
This study demonstrated that introducing gas–liquid slug flow into Tipton’s TVF Taylor Couette Flow continuous crystallization and reaction system can stabilize Taylor Couette Flow while maintaining strong mixing and suppressing axial dispersion.
Furthermore, Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) analysis was used to visualize the vortex structures within the slugs, providing insight into the mechanisms responsible for enhanced mixing.
These findings can contribute to the design of continuous Taylor–Couette reactors that combine high mixing performance with stable plug-flow characteristics. The technology is expected to support the advancement of continuous manufacturing processes, particularly in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, where precise mixing and stable continuous processing are increasingly important.
Tipton will continue its collaborative research with Kobe University to further advance TVF technology and expand its industrial applications in continuous crystallization, reaction, and manufacturing processes.
